DIAB’s Björn Abrahamsen wins Nordic Plastics &
Chemicals Federations 2010 Composites Award

23 September 2010

At the Plastics & Chemicals Federations Nordic Composites Conference in Varberg, Sweden (22-23 September 2010), Björn Abrahamsen of DIAB was announced as the winner of the 2010 Nordic Composites Award. The winner of this prestigious award is chosen by an independent jury that is drawn from the Nordic composites industry.

The award recognizes the major role that Björn has played in the development of new composite manufacturing processes over the last 25 years. At DIAB he was heavily involved in both the development and the commercialization of core infusion – a technology that is now the process of choice of literally hundreds of boat builders around the world. More recently Björn has worked closely with Gothenberg-based Skandinaviska Glassystem to develop the manufacturing processes for its sandwich composite cladding system that won a 2009 JEC Innovation Award.
Björn joined DIAB’s Norwegian operation in 1987 to manage its technical services operation and to develop new applications for sandwich composites in the marine sector. Today Björn is a senior processing consultant for the recently established Composites Consulting Group (CCG).

CCG is a stand-alone organization that is building on DIAB’s long-term experience and unique expertise in the composites field. CCG focuses on providing comprehensive, world-class composite product development services.

These services, that are available world wide, include conceptual and industrial design, laminate specification, structural analysis, testing, process consulting, training, tooling and prototyping.
