Engineering Laminates for Infusion

When making the switch from open molding to vacuum infusion, it is obvious that processing characteristics of laminate materials must be taken into account. However, many people don’t consider the effects on mechanical properties. In some cases, a structure must be re-engineered entirely. Discover the differences in laminate properties achieved with infusion compared to open molding. It will also explore the processing characteristics and mechanical properties of common composite materials and infusion-specific products. In addition, tips will be given on converting open mold laminates to infusion friendly laminates in order to take advantage of the benefits of infusion without compromising strength, stiffness, weight or labor.

CIT course in Sweden 2014 4-6 of February.

09 December 2013

Next training course for the very popular CIT course is in Sweden 4-6 of February 2014. It is a 3 days comprehensive course in composite manufacturing, focused on closed molding.
Theory and practical sessions is mixed. For the practical exercises we are making a 3D infusion of either a 8 or 16 ft. hull with stiffeners. Integration of beams and stiffeners in a single shot infusion is a very hot subject of interest were one can have more benefits from composites if you can integrate more parts in the same manufacturing process.
